Baby Prep Day 2: The Craft Corner

Well, the basement has been slightly more rearranged. Rather than letting my husband organize all of my craft items I opted to spend the time in the basement and attempt to organize it myself. I say attempt because it will always be a work in progress.

I love to look through Pinterest and see all the fancy organization ideas. I have read the book Marie Kondo wrote (well listened to it on a road trip once) and never got around to going through the craft items. Plus, what if I need it?! The most dangerous question ever when trying to organize. For now I’m not trying to spend any money so fancy, new, matching bins are not in the picture and the old boxes and bins my supplies are in will have to do. Someday though, Pinterest and I will spend the time and money to make it happen.

Until then I’ll have to stick with the three sets of metal shelves that I have. Currently everything is mostly on the tall set of shelves. The bottom of the two short shelves contains crates of books. I switched from having my own room to having my own desk and two filing cabinet drawers so I have a lot of school books and supplies to store. These will eventually go on the bookshelf I moved out of the office upstairs to make room for the tubs of fabric that are being stored on the shelves in the storage area.

While I worked on my craft corner the husband worked on the next step of moving and reorganizing all of the tools. Well, he got to most of them… The shelves were moved. The tools were piled up and then mostly moved to their new home. When we finally get tired of storing the screw drivers, drill bits, and other random tools in scrapbook storage containers and cardboard boxes we will spend the money on a tool chest/drawers/storage. Moving the tools opened up the corner for the food storage and canning supplies to go. After that there are a few other categories of items to move before we can move the spare bed downstairs.

One weekend at a time… We will slowly get this nursery thing done. It is slower going though when you’re pregnant. When you actually sleep soundly so you sleep in and takes up some of your time. Then you have to eat breakfast so your stomach doesn’t get upset. Then you just feel exhausted so you try to nap some more. But alas, things need to be done so you start to get up and realize that it is lunch time and if you don’t eat you’ll get sick. So you eat lunch. THEN you can start to work on chores. Then after an hour or two you are exhausted and have to sit down. Oh, and it is snack time because otherwise… you’ll get sick. Life is so much harder when growing a human. Thankfully the husband is coming to understand and is less upset when I have to stop and take a break. Or stop and eat. Or stop to pee. Or stop to drink more. Or just stop because I’m worn out.
